If you’re in the mood for some delicious authentic tacos, quesadillas, margaritas, horchata or delicious hibiscus juice head straight to Tacombi. Tacombi is like taking a day trip to the Yucatan without leaving Nolita. Situated in a large open airy garage like warehouse on Elizabeth Street that has two VW Kombi vans ingeniously gutted and converted into taco kitchens.
The food is cheap, quick and traditionally Mexican. Tacombi is very popular especially in the summertime where locals linger and mingle on the street outside relaxing after work drinking coronas. What I love most about Tacombi is it’s ambiance, the interior design is truly colorful and relaxed just like in Mexico, the staff are friendly and attentive, the twinkle lights provide an outdoor kinda vibe, just as if you were sitting in a traditional Mexican square at dusk. The mood just feels so good, light hearted and is a playful dining experience all round. Oh and Tacombi is perfect to bring your kids too!
Tacombi is a must if you were to have only one meal in Nolita, it would have to be here!
Food tip: The Crispy Fish taco was one of the best tacos I’ve ever had!
