McNally’s is a unique indie bookstore that also has a very cool cafe attached to it serving freshly brewed coffees, treats and snacks all day. Established by a very interesting young women, Canadian Sarah McNally grew up amongst books in her parents bookstores McNally Robinson. So it wasn’t super out of the ordinary for Sarah to start a bookstore that she could put her own eclectic touch on. Sarah’s book store is thriving in Nolita.
I have witnessed Mcnally’s grow more and more popular over the years. Sarah’s clearly doing something right, I dear say a mix of darm hard work, sheer persistence and staying true to her inner passion, staying ahead of the game, steering clear from the mammoth Amazon.
I think her Espresso book press, a self publishing book making machine, which can print a book on the spot from a library of 7 million titles, is really impressive. It’s the only ‘instant print book machine’ in NYC and set Sarah back a whooping $100,000.
Located on the corner of Mulberry and Prince Streets in the epicenter of Nolita, I love coming to McNally’s to people watch and to enjoy a delicious iced coffee in the summertime! McNally’s is a wifi no go zone, they prefer their customers to read books, magazines, stop for a moment and enjoy some real life text, definitely not surf the web.
