The Egg Shop which very recently just this month opened its doors at 151 Elizabeth Street promises us all day egg breakfasts! Owners Sarah Schneider and Demetri Makoulis have created a restaurant honoring the almighty egg and I have to say their creativity on egg sandwiches seems endless!
For the pescatorians among us (myself included) try the The Fish Out of Water (see first pic below) which consists of smoked salmon, pickled egg, fresh dill and caperberry mustard on rye bread. The El Camino consists of a poached egg, avocado, carnitas, fried tortilla and cilantro in a bowl.
The Beast is recommended for serious carnivores, pulled pork carnitas, cilantro, pickled onion, chipotle bourbon ketchup) and Pepper Boy (jamon serrano, caramelized onion aïoli, Gruyère cheese, served in a bell pepper or on a roll) whilst it sounds utterly delicious, we recommend beginning your egg sandwich journey with the basic BEC: broke yolk, Shelburne cheddar, Black Forest bacon, tomato jam and fresh pickled jalapeño on a panini roll ($9).
By all accounts, the Egg Shop is getting terrific reviews (Times, Zagat etc), so we highly recommend you stopping by for some egg loving!
